Anyone who has an interest in the glades needs to read "The Swamp" by Michael Grunwald.
Very interesting reading and a sad commentary on the power of politics over common sense and science. Bottom line is that the supposed "restoration" for the glades is more about water control for the populations on either coast. Apparently 8 billion dollars isn't enough to give the traditional water flow to the park that it needs. Also makes the Audubon Society look bad in their willingness to accept a bad plan. I know I had to give up my long membership to National Audubon because of the relentless demands for more and more money - but that is off topic (I still support my local chapter).
