Thanks Paul and Matt for the helpful information. I'm still gathering information but right now I'm thinking that I should overnight on both sides of the Everglades. I'm thinking Everglade City and Homestead. Doing so would allow me to catch Big Cypress as well as the Everglades. I love the sound of Sanibel/Captiva and the rookery but, given the limited time (two to three days), I'd like to stay away from the traffic congestion. Any suggestions as to lodging in Everglade City would be greatly appreciated.
Paul could you tell me a little more about the boat tour/cruise operations. I love that kind of activity when I'm with my wife but sometimes when I m soloing it with camera I find them limiting in terms of photography. I d also appreciate suggestions on good sunrise and sunset locations.
