Thanks Paul. I use a Canon Rebel XTi. All the photos posted were taken with the Canon 100-400 IS lens and all using a tripod. I wanted to use my Canon 2x converter at times but there wasn't enough light and I didn't want to focus manually. BTW I didn't use a fill flash.
On my way back to the car on the Anhinga trail I just missed this guy grabbing something on, or near, the bank. I was about 50 yards away when I saw him with his head extended out of the water mouth wide open. By the time I got to him, he had swallowed whatever unfortunate creature that was now his meal.
