I went to ENP 2 weekends ago, on Saturday. The water level at Anhinga Trail seems a bit higher this year compared to past years. I think the rains we have had during Dec. and Jan. have kept water high enough and the temperatures have also been higher this winter. When we get freezing temps in ENP there is usually a die-off of tropical (exotic) fish in the waters of Anhinga trail. The die-off of fish brings lots of cormorants, vultures (turkey and black) and other fish eating birds. Alas, this has not occured so far this winter. There are lots of alligators lazing about and cormorants and anhingas have nested. A few swallow-tail kites have been seen. No mosquitos and lots of sunny blue skies.
